What does all this mean for the patient? It means we now have a solution for some of the most common visual complaints including night driving glare, difficulty driving in the rain, computer induced eye strain, trouble seeing in low light settings, and so much more. Ultra-widefield (UWF™) retinal imaging enables our doctors to discover, diagnose, photo document, and manage ocular pathology that may first present in the peripheral retina (back of the eye) – pathology which may go undetected using traditional examination techniques and equipment. Our UWF, high-resolution retinal imaging devices are capable of imaging more than 80% or 200 ̊ of the retina in a single capture. UWF retinal imaging is an important tool for the screening and diagnosis of ocular issues such as retinal detachment, glaucoma, cataracts, retinal holes/retinal tears and macular degeneration. it can also indicate evidence of non-eye diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, certain cancers, and many other systemic conditions.


This instrument is used in conjunction with our other equipment to examine the back and front surfaces of the eye in extremely fine detail. The Cirrus OCT is very effective in tracking progressive conditions in the back of the eye over time, such as glaucoma and macular degeneration. Along with other diagnostic equipment, the OCT helps to ensure that even the smallest changes in pathology are detected and then managed appropriately. This device also aids the doctors in treating certain corneal diseases by providing important data needed to successfully fit patients with custom scleral contact lenses, gas permeable contact lenses, and other types of therapeutic contact lenses.


At our office we utilize the newest and most advanced version of the Humphrey Visual Field – the HVF Liquid Lens Automated Perimetry. This visual fields machine is used to determine the range and sensitivity of the patient’s peripheral vision (or side vision). This testing is an integral part of diagnosing and managing some common vision-threatening eye diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, toxic maculopathy caused by certain medications, and much more. This testing also maps out visual field defect patterns helping to determine the presence and location of certain brain tumors and other neurological lesions and findings. We rely heavily on this testing device to monitor any changes or progression in our patients with ocular and neurological diseases.


ColorDx CCT HD represents the new gold standard for color vision diagnostics. Developed in collaboration with the U.S. Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine OBVA (Operational Based Vision Assessment) laboratory under CRADA, CCT HD expands on the strengths of the USAF cone-isolation contrast test (CCT) and is built from the ground up with entirely new architecture. Contemporary eye care includes qualitative and quantitative assessment of this important measure of visual function. Acquired color deficiencies are commonly S-cone (blue-yellow) type, but may also affect L- and M-cones. Acquired deficiencies are typically gender neutral and become more common with age, yet may affect up to 15%* of the general population. This important but often overlooked clinical sign may be caused by retinal, macular, optic nerve, trauma or neurological disorders, in addition to cataracts and high-risk meds, as well as hundreds of common drugs and substances**. Testing for acquired color vision deficiencies may be one of the most underutilized measures of functional vision. Commonly used color vision tests historically (such as printed pseudo-isochromatic, “Ishihara plates”, designed more than a century ago), may only test L and M-cone deficiencies, completely missing all S-cone (blue) deficiencies as well as being not quantitative. Genetic color vision deficiencies most commonly affect males as a sex-linked trait and most commonly affect the L or M-cones.


Diopsys Electrophysiology tests are painless, non-invasive, and provide comprehensive information on the function of your vision. Like an electrocardiogram (EKG) which tests heart function, Diopsys electrophysiology tests work by evaluating how the cells within your vision system are functioning. Eye disease disrupts that function as cells become unhealthy. By catching this dysfunction before the cells die, we can prescribe treatment to make the cells healthy again. Additionally, we can use these tests to help determine if your treatment is working. These types of scans help detect dysfunction early, track disease progression, and tailor treatment using objective results of visual function. As the world leader in modern visual electrophysiology, Diopsys, Inc. has done more than any other company to advance the use of electroretinography (ERG) and visual evoked potential (VEP) in the eye care practice. The company’s unique, patented technology provides eye care professionals with objective, functional information about the health of the vision system to aid in the early detection of vision disorders, and post-treatment tracking for enhanced patient management. Results from these tests are not just for rare diseases, but also to help doctors manage more common disorders like diabetic retinopathy, retinal concerns obscured by media opacities, glaucoma, and optic neuritis. VEP and ERG testing allow for detection of certain eye conditions up to 8 years prior to any permanent vision loss occurs.


Tempsure radiofrequency technology was originally developed for cosmetic procedures. It has been featured in many major TV, radio, and magazine advertisements such as Marie Claire. However, it was discovered to also be a highly effective treatment for many conditions that affect the eyes, eyelids, and periocular region (the area of the face surrounding the eyes and eyelids). Some conditions commonly treated with radiofrequency technology include dry eye syndrome (DES), Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD), drooping upper eyelids causing visual disturbances, drooping lower eyelids causing constant watering, and many more.
